How can I get a handcycle for my girlfriend?

My girlfriend has cerebral palsy and is unable to walk on her own or peddle a normal bicycle so she needs a special bike called a handcycle. I have looked on several websites since they aren't sold in very many if any stores and found that they are way out of the price rang of a normal bike. The cheapest one I found was around $1800 and they only went higher from there. I can't afford that much so I was wondering if anyone knew of some sort of organization that ist people with disabilities with getting something like this. Or if someone has gotten one before and was able to set up some sort of payment plan. Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.
