I need help! I am trying to do a cover of I'm yours by Jason Mraz!!?

First of all do you guys think it is even possible for me to sing in a tone similar to his? I know I can't perfectly emulate his voice, but I want to get as close as possible. My voice is deep like an average guy's voice but its not too deep, so I want to know if this is even possible before I decide to commit to it. Lastly, If you guys think this I can do this, do you have any advice for me? I have never sang before so I could use a little help ;) Please... if you think I cannot do this, just tell me. I don't want to get my hopes up thinking I can do it, and find out months later I cannot. Thank you in advance guys!
