If you have the true faith,?

Shouldn't you be able to research any faith or belief other than your own without fear of tarnishing your beliefs? If your religion tells you not to look at or study beliefs other than what they tell you...Wouldnt you question the strength of the faith that you are participateing in? Spacifically JW's?
