Can someone please help me with a vintage christening gown from the 60's?

Although stored in blue tissue in a dark place, it still has slightly yellowed. There is no information or washing instructions on the gown, but I believe it may be acrillic and not cotton or silk. How can I brighten it without damaging the material? This is a valued family heirloom, so I appreciate any help you can give to me.
